NT Protect protection package

What it covers

• Accidental physical damage to the trailer during an active rental period
• Theft or vandalism of the trailer during a verified rental
• Rentals in all 50 U.S. states and in Canada
• Every trailer type, whatever its title status

A covered loss is settled at the trailer's actual cash value, up to the program limit of $25,000 per covered loss.

What it does not cover

• Normal wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdown, corrosion
• Tires and wheels, and anything carried in or on the trailer
• Loss of use, and towing, impound and transport costs
• Damage to the renter's tow vehicle, any other vehicle or the renter's property
• Unauthorized, illegal or unverified use, intentional acts and gross negligence
• Pre-existing damage, and damage without adequate photo documentation
• Anything that happens before the scheduled start time, after the scheduled end time, or during any period the rental fee was not paid through Neighbors Trailer
• Bookings that were never accepted, never moved to On Rent, or expired without an extension
• Repairs, towing or transport the renter paid for, whether or not the owner agreed to them

Deductible

Every reimbursement request carries a $500 deductible, paid by the renter. When the booking's refundable deposit is $500 or more, the deductible comes out of the deposit and nothing extra is charged. When the deposit is smaller, or there is none, the difference is charged to the renter's card on file.

What it costs

The fee is set per trailer category and charged once per rental at checkout: the per-day rate for the trailer's category multiplied by the number of rental days.

A rental of 30 days or more is priced from the monthly figure instead: $225.00 divided by 30, which is $7.50 per day, multiplied by the rental days.

• Rates are in U.S. dollars. A booking on a Canadian listing is charged in Canadian dollars at the same figure.
• The rates on this page are the ones checkout prices from. The figure on your checkout page is the one that applies to your booking.
• Renter accounts marked exempt from payment (corporate accounts) are not charged the fee.
• Renters must be 21 or older to book.
• The fee is not refunded once the owner has accepted the booking, except when the owner cancels.

How a reimbursement request works

1. The trailer owner opens the booking while it is On Rent or Completed, chooses Help with this booking, then Reimbursement Request. Only the owner can file.
2. The request must be filed within 48 hours of the scheduled rental end time. Reporting damage by message, email or phone, or filing a Deposit Deduction, does not count as a reimbursement request.
3. The request amount must be more than $500. Damage at or below the deductible is not eligible. One request can be filed per booking.
4. NT Protect and its licensed partners review the request, may ask for more information, and decide the outcome. NT Protect aims to acknowledge a complete request within 10 business days; the time to a decision depends on the partner handling it.
5. If a request is denied, the owner can appeal in writing to claims@ntprotect.net within 30 days of the denial.

A Deposit Deduction is a separate process. It draws on the renter's refundable deposit and is decided on Neighbors Trailer, while a reimbursement request goes to NT Protect.
