How does Neighbors Trailer screen renters before they can book my trailer?
Every renter on Neighbors Trailer must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screening before a booking can be accepted. This is an automated check of the renter's driving history conducted through a licensed third-party screening provider.
The MVR screening reviews the renter's state driving record for red flags that could indicate a higher risk behind the wheel. Renters who do not meet our screening criteria are unable to complete a booking on the platform.
Here's what the MVR screening looks for:
- Suspended, revoked, or invalid driver's license
- DUI or DWI convictions
- Reckless driving violations
- Multiple at-fault accidents or moving violations within a defined lookback period
- Any other serious driving offense that indicates unsafe driving behavior
As a trailer owner, you don't need to do anything — MVR screening is built into the Neighbors Trailer verification process automatically. It's one more layer of protection, on top of ID verification and our NT Protect coverage, designed to give you confidence that your trailer is in responsible hands.
MVR screening is one of six layers in our trust architecture — alongside CLEAR ID verification, payment fraud screening, message monitoring, listing review, and payout holds.
