Renting a Trailer for a PCS Move from Fort Carson
Moving on PCS orders?
If you're doing a Personally Procured Move (PPM) from Fort Carson, a trailer from a local owner can keep your costs down. Your PPM payment is based on the weight you move, not what you spend, so every dollar you save stays with you. Get your PCS orders before you rent anything, and talk to your transportation office about your weight allowance.
Which trailers work for a PPM
Enclosed cargo trailers and utility trailers are authorized PPM operating expenses, which can lower the taxable part of your payment. Car haulers can be rented, but moving a vehicle is not an eligible PPM expense. Protection and insurance fees aren't eligible either. You'll need a tow vehicle with the right hitch; each listing shows the hitch and weight.
What to keep for your claim
Keep your PCS orders, certified empty and full weight tickets (note "vehicle with trailer" on each), your Neighbors Trailer booking receipt, and receipts for boxes, tape and fuel. Renters must be 21 or older and pass ID verification. Full guide to PPM trailer rentals: resources.neighborstrailer.com/pcs-trailer-rental
