Wildlife

Alberta, Canada is home to some of the most diverse and iconic wildlife in North America, thanks to its rich variety of ecosystems that range from prairie grasslands and boreal forests to the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies. This province offers a natural habitat for a wide array of animals, making it a top destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Among the most famous residents are grizzly bears and black bears, which roam the forested and mountainous regions, particularly within national parks like Banff and Jasper. Elk, moose, and white-tailed deer are also commonly seen, especially during the early morning or evening hours along forest edges and river valleys. In the open plains and grasslands, visitors might spot pronghorn antelope, coyotes, and red foxes, while the wetlands support an impressive population of beavers, muskrats, and waterfowl such as ducks, geese, and herons.
