What should I do if I receive a toll bill?

If you receive a toll bill for a trailer rental, you may submit it to Neighbors Trailer for review. Before we can assist with toll bill recovery, two requirements must be met:

  1. All of your trailers must be actively enrolled in the Neighbors Trailer Toll Program (not opted out).
  2. Your trailers must not be registered on any personal tolling account.

Why Your Trailer Must Be Enrolled in the Toll Program

License plates added to a Neighbors Trailer listing are automatically enrolled in the Toll Program by default. If you have opted out of the Toll Program for a trailer, you have taken full financial responsibility for any toll bills generated during rentals of that trailer, and toll recovery assistance through Neighbors Trailer is not available. To restore eligibility for toll recovery assistance, you can re-enroll at any time using the same button at the bottom of the listing page.

Why Your Trailer Must Be Removed from Personal Tolling Accounts

If your trailer is registered on a personal tolling account with any toll authority — including SunPass, E-ZPass, TxTag, TollTag (NTTA), EZ TAG, FasTrak, Peach Pass, I-PASS, Good To Go!, ExpressToll, PlatePass, or any other state, regional, or private tolling program — toll charges incurred during rentals will be billed directly to you by the tolling authority rather than captured by Neighbors Trailer.

When this happens, Neighbors Trailer cannot invoice the renter on your behalf, because the toll authority has already collected (or is collecting) the charge directly from you. In these cases, toll recovery assistance through Neighbors Trailer is not available, and your only recourse is to pursue the renter directly, outside the Neighbors Trailer platform.

To avoid this, log in to each tolling authority where your trailer may be listed, locate your trailer's license plate, and remove it from your account. Repeat for every tolling account where your trailer may be registered. If you are unsure, contact the tolling authority directly to confirm.
