How Does the Toll Program Work?

License plates added to a Neighbors Trailer listing are automatically enrolled in the Toll Program by default. Once enrolled, the Toll Program works to intercept and process toll charges during active rentals so that charges flow through the platform rather than to the Trailer Owner.

How It Works

• The trailer's license plate is submitted to participating toll authorities when the Owner begins the rental in the system.
• The license plate is removed from the active list when the Owner properly ends the rental.
• For tolls successfully captured through the program, Neighbors Trailer collects the toll charges from the renter and assumes financial responsibility for those toll fees during the active rental period.

What This Means for Owners

• The program is designed to reduce the chance of you receiving toll bills for properly started and ended rentals.
• For tolls processed through the program, you do not need to contact the renter about toll charges — they are handled directly through the platform.

When Tolls May Bypass the Program

The Toll Program depends on third-party toll authorities and is not guaranteed to capture every toll transaction. You may still receive a toll bill in cases including:

• Toll plazas that do not participate in the program (including all international crossings and some U.S.-based plazas)
• Delayed activation or deactivation by the toll authority
• Software glitches, third-party service failures, or processing delays
• Tolls that occur outside an active "On-Rent" period
• Any toll that bypasses the program for reasons outside Neighbors Trailer's control

If you receive a toll bill, please notify Neighbors Trailer so we can attempt to recover reimbursement from the renter. If we are unable to collect from the renter, the Trailer Owner remains responsible for the toll bill as outlined in Section 17 of the Terms of Use. In these cases, you may also submit the toll bill to the toll authority as a Leased Vehicle dispute, and we will provide booking documentation to support your submission.

Opting Out

If you do not want your trailer to participate in the Toll Program, you can opt out at any time using the Opt Out button at the bottom of the listing page. By opting out, you take full financial responsibility for any toll bills generated during a rental, and Neighbors Trailer will not pass those charges through to the renter on your behalf. You can re-enroll at any time from the same location on the listing page.
